Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of foghorn ("the Service"), a hosted WebSocket pub/sub relay. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
foghorn provides project-scoped WebSocket connections, channel subscriptions, and a message-relay ("emit") endpoint. The Service is a transport layer: it does not persist, replay, or interpret message content beyond enforcing size and format limits described in the documentation.
2. Accounts and access
Access during this stage of the Service is limited to allow-listed email addresses. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys, particularly secret keys, which must never be exposed in client-side or publicly accessible code. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and API keys.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Relay unlawful, infringing, or abusive content;
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, payload limits, or authentication controls;
- Interfere with the Service's operation or other customers' use of it; or
- Reverse engineer or probe the Service beyond normal, documented use.
4. Availability and limits
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis during this stage, without uptime guarantees. Rate limits, payload size limits, and other technical constraints are described in the Service documentation and may change with notice where reasonably practical.
5. Data and content
You retain ownership of any content you transmit through the Service. The Service does not store message payloads after delivery. See the Privacy Policy for what account and usage data is retained.
6. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your projects at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, or discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably practical.
7. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, foghorn is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.
8. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
